About Us

Arran Active Ltd is based on the beautiful Isle of Arran in Scotland, a breath-taking small Island on the west coast known across the UK as ‘Scotland in Miniature’. Easily found on Brodick sea front and only a minutes stroll from the ferry terminal.

As Scotland's largest independent family-run outdoor clothing and equipment supplier we are delighted to stock a broad range of products including technical equipment for mountaineering, hiking, camping, casual fashion, toys and local souvenirs. We hold stock from major brands such as Rab, Crag Hoppers, Mountain Equipment, Regatta, Paramo, Scarpa, Meindl, Lowe Alpine, Red Paddle Co and many more. We also sell more formal and casual clothes from brands such as Hoggs of Fife and Rieker. If you're looking for something more local we also stock a wide range of products from both local causes and business’s such as Arran Mountain Rescue, C.O.A.S.T, Arran Whiskey and Arran Gin. We even have a range of products exclusive to our store that you wont find anywhere else!

Our Heritage:

Arran Active is owned by Andrew and Juliette Walsh who moved to Arran in 2005 to run a small outdoor shop based in Cladach Visitor Centre at the foot of Goatfell. Demand for outdoor sports equipment on the island grew over the years and, in 2016, we moved to our new larger premises on Brodick seafront.

To this day our business remains a family-owned, community-facing and truly independent supplier of outdoor equipment for locals and visitors.

Our Team:

We’re proud to have a great team of friendly and knowledgeable locals who will be delighted to help you during your visit. Most of our team live on Arran and have a passion for the outdoors; they will be happy to share their own experiences and offer detailed product advice across our ever increasing range.

We also offer a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) hire service throughout the year from our awesome fleet of Red Paddle Co boards. You'll also find our friends at Dive Arran in store during the season. As the islands only PADI Dive Resort you have even more options to make your holiday one to remember during your stay on Arran.

Parking:

We have a small on site car park directly in front of the store which includes a number of disabled spaces.

Accessibility:

In addition to our onsite disabled parking spaces we have a large accessible ramp which leads up to the store entrance. Inside you’ll find the ground floor is completely accessible for all with a ramp to our raised footwear section. Our mezzanine floor is unfortunately only accessible by stairs but should you need any assistance in viewing these products our staff will always be ready to help.

Facilities:

• Toilets - not currently open to customers on site. We're working on this for next season.
• Changing rooms – available to try on those great looking clothes.
• Café – just opposite our store ‘Little Rock’ is open every day for meals and snacks when you need to refuel between shopping.
• Wifi - we have free WiFi available throughout the shop
